Most lists of the top creative agencies in Dubai put three very different kinds of company side by side: international network agencies, independent design studios, and digital agencies with a creative team. Each is the right choice for somebody. The mistake is hiring the wrong kind for the size of your brief.
We are one of the third kind, so read this with that in mind. The checks below apply to every agency, us included.
What does a creative agency do?
A creative agency turns a business message into something people see and remember: brand identity, campaign concepts, advertising creative, packaging, video and content. A branding agency is a narrower version focused on identity, meaning the name, logo, colour, type and the rules for using them. In Dubai the terms overlap heavily, and our branding and creative page explains where we draw the line.
The three kinds of creative agency in Dubai
| Network agency | Independent studio | Digital agency with in-house creative | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical client | Large regional and global brands | Mid-size brands, hospitality, launches | SMEs and growing businesses |
| Best at | Multi-market campaigns, TV, big launches | Identity, packaging, distinctive design | Identity plus the content and ads that use it |
| How they price | Retainers, rarely published | Project fees, sometimes published | Project fees and monthly plans, often published |
The network agencies are the names that appear on industry rankings. Campaign Middle East's list of the best Middle East creative agencies of 2024 features Saatchi & Saatchi Middle East, FP7McCann Dubai and Impact BBDO. If you are launching a national brand across the GCC with a media budget to match, that is the tier to talk to.
If you are a clinic, a restaurant group, a trading company or a brand under a few years old, a network agency is usually the wrong fit. The minimum engagement tends to be too large and your account will be small inside it. An independent studio or a digital agency with real design capability will give you more senior attention for the money.
What does branding and creative work cost in Dubai?
It depends almost entirely on which of the three kinds you hire. Network agencies work on retainers and rarely publish figures. Independent studios quote per project. With us, logo and identity projects start at AED 2,500, and ongoing content production starts at AED 2,000 a month.
Two things move the price more than anything else: whether you need a full identity or only a logo, and whether the Arabic version is designed alongside the English one or bolted on afterwards. The second costs more, and it is usually worth it.
Six things to check before you hire a creative agency
1. Work that is live, not just mock-ups
Concept boards look good in every portfolio. Ask to see identities that are in use: a shopfront, a live website, packaging on a shelf, an Instagram account run in the new style. Real-world use shows whether a design survives contact with printers, developers and phone screens.
2. Who actually designs
Ask who will work on your project and whether they are employed by the agency. Some agencies pitch with a senior creative director and hand the work to a junior or a freelancer.
3. An Arabic wordmark designed, not typed
In the UAE a logo often needs an Arabic version. A good agency designs the Arabic wordmark alongside the Latin one so the two feel related. A weak one types your name in an Arabic font and places it underneath.
4. A clear process and revision rounds
You should know before you start how many concepts you will see, how many rounds of revision are included, and what happens if none of the concepts work.
5. Files and rights handed over
At the end you should own the final artwork in editable formats, and the agency should confirm the design is original work you can register. If you plan to register a trademark, say so at the start; our branding page covers trademark registration in the UAE.
6. Someone who thinks about where the brand will be used
Your identity will spend most of its life on a phone screen: a profile picture, a reel, a website header. An agency that only presents it on a billboard mock-up has not thought about where your customers will actually see it.
Questions to ask on the first call
- Can you show me three identities you designed that are in use today?
- Who will design ours, and are they employed by you?
- How many concepts and how many revision rounds are included?
- How do you approach the Arabic version of the logo?
- Which files do we receive at the end, and do we own them outright?
- What does the project cost, and what would make it cost more?
Red flags
- A logo promised in 48 hours for a few hundred dirhams, which usually means a template.
- A request for free design work before you have agreed to hire them.
- No Arabic designer, when your market reads Arabic.
- Refusal to hand over editable source files.
- A portfolio made entirely of mock-ups with no live work.
The shortest version
Match the kind of agency to the size of your brief. A network agency for a multi-market launch; an independent studio or a digital agency with in-house design for everything below that.
Then check live work, who designs, how the Arabic is handled and what you own at the end. Our own approach and prices are on the branding and creative page, and if you also need the content that uses the brand, see content production.
Frequently asked questions

How much does a creative agency cost in Dubai?
It depends on the kind of agency. Network agencies work on retainers and rarely publish prices. With us, logo and identity projects start at AED 2,500 and content production starts at AED 2,000 a month.
What is the difference between a creative agency and a branding agency?
A branding agency focuses on identity: name, logo, colour, type and the rules for using them. A creative agency covers that plus campaigns, advertising creative and content. In Dubai many agencies do both.
Does my logo need an Arabic version?
If any of your customers read Arabic, usually yes. The Arabic wordmark should be designed alongside the English one, not typed underneath it in a stock font.
Should I own my logo files after the project?
Yes. You should receive final artwork in editable formats and own it outright, so you can register it as a trademark and use it with any supplier.
Is it worth hiring a network agency as a small business?
Rarely. Network agencies are built for large multi-market campaigns, and a small account gets limited senior attention. An independent studio or a digital agency with real design capability is usually better value.
